Akshar Saathi is a children's educational app developed by Barnavox LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, what we don't, and your rights.
Summary
- We collect almost nothing. No accounts for children, no behavioral tracking, no advertising IDs from your child.
- Everything stays on the device unless you explicitly opt into something (e.g., crash reporting).
- No data is sold, ever. No data is shared with third parties for marketing.
What we collect
From the child: nothing. The child's progress, XP, streak, and stickers are stored only on this device. We do not collect names, ages, photos, voice recordings, contacts, or location.
From the parent (optional):
- An email address, if you provide one during setup. Used only to send a recovery code if you forget your Parent PIN. Never used for marketing. Stored hashed on-device; only sent to your own email client when you request recovery.
From the device (technical): if you opt in to crash reporting in Parent Zone, anonymized crash reports are sent to Firebase Crashlytics. These contain device model, OS version, and stack traces — never lesson content, child name, or any input the child made. Crash reporting is off by default.
Advertising
The free tier shows banner ads from Google AdMob, configured for child-directed treatment (COPPA / Google Play Families compliant). These ads are contextually relevant only — not behaviorally targeted to your child. Subscribers to Saathi Plus see no ads.
Speech recognition
If your child uses the Speak activity, audio is processed entirely on the device by Android / iOS speech recognition APIs. No audio leaves your device. Audio is not stored. You can disable Speak entirely in Parent Zone.
Subscriptions
Subscription purchases are handled by Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS). We never see your payment details. Manage or cancel any time from your store account.
Children's privacy (COPPA / GDPR-K)
Akshar Saathi is designed for children under 13 and complies with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU GDPR Article 8 (GDPR-K). We collect no personal information from children. Parent email collection (optional) requires verifiable parental action (entering it during setup behind the Parent Zone gate).
Your rights
- Erase all data: Parent Zone → Settings → "Erase all data." Wipes every profile, all progress, and the stored email hash. Immediate, permanent, no confirmation server-side because there is no server.
- Cancel subscription: in your Google Play / App Store account settings.

Changes to this policy
If we change this policy materially, we will note the change in-app on next launch and request acknowledgment in Parent Zone.
This app collects no behavioral or personally identifiable data on children. We built it for our own family first.
